Education and Resources

Providing health care in Jamaica has many challenges.  Jamaica unfortunately suffers from both new and old threats to the health of it's people.  Although life expectancy is high (>73 years), increases in the western diet has led to a spike in obesity and resulting increase in diabetes, heart disease and cancer. In spite of this, malnutrition remains prevalent.

Access to care remains a struggle for most everyday Jamaicans.  There are about 40 hospitals, but theses hospitals range from modern western styled hospitals to smaller community hospitals with limited resources.

Although classic Caribbean diseases such as Dengue fever and TB have been curtailed new threats in the form of Chikungunya and Zika virus have surfaced.

I have included some links to relevant materials which should be of help.
